FAMILY NOTE

Dear families, please remember to drive safely, especially when dropping off or picking up your child. When dropping off at the front of the school, let your child out as soon as you reach the yellow curb. It is safe for children to walk from the yellow colored curb to the classroom. It is not necessary for you to wait until you reach the front of the school to let your child out, and doing so slows the flow of traffic. Thank you for your cooperation.

MORNING PATRIOTIC SONG

Our patriotic song this week is the national anthem of our country, the Star-Spangled Banner. President Hoover chose this song as our nation's anthem in 1931. The words of the song come from a poem written by Francis Scott Key in 1814. Francis Scott Key was a well known attorney during this time, and an amateur poet. On a trip to negotiate the release of prisoners during the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key witnessed a battle where Americans were repeatedly attacked by Britain. When the smoked clear, Francis Scott was struck by the waving of the American Flag, and from that, a song was born.

CHARACTER ED

This week's Character Ed word is FAIR. A person who is fair treats others equally without favoring one person over another. A fair person is just, honorable, and makes a great friend!
